WAM (Winter Activation Meeting) is two-player historical card driven wargames “genre con" for competitive and fun BPA (Boardgame Players Association) http://www.boardgamers.org/ play.
We have strong attendance from top strategic gamers, the best game designers and many from the card driven wargaming clan. It's a great convention to play all the 2 player Card Driven Wargames like Paths of Glory, Twilight Struggle, For the People, The Wilderness Wars, Hannibal verses Rome, We the People, Triumph of Chaos, Pursuit of Glory, Shifting Sands, Empire of the Sun and Barbarossa to Berlin, sample some of the new in-development card driven games, enjoy the world's best BBQ, try to grab the gold in the annual March Madness Tourney and engage in a little what not.
Although WAM has official BPA tournaments, the convention excels at being a great place to learn how to play these titles; given that many game designers, gm's and top strategy players attend. The purpose of WAM is to have a blast playing serious strategy games with friends during the dead of winter: the games, friends and BBQ warm the soul!
For 2011, we will announce four official tourneys sometime in the fall. Candidate games include Paths of Glory, Hannibal, Wilderness War, Washington's War, Combat Commander, Twilight Struggle and any great, new CWDs that may be published in 2010.
